Bruce Hampton

Musician, Vocalist, Composer, Actor. He was known for his energetic, eccentric style and often regarded as the granddaddy of the jam band scene. He was born in Tennessee and grew up in Atlanta. He first gained attention in the late 1960's and early 1970's and he was a founding member of the Hampton Grease Band. The band broke up in 1973. In the next five decades that followed he formed or was a part of a number of other acts. In 1993, he started acting in film and television with such credits as Sling Blade (1996), Space Ghost Coast to Coast (1998), Jimi Hendrix Electric Church (2015), Tombstone (1993), Duckworth, (2011), Gilda Sue Rosenstern: The Motion Picture! (2016), Here Comes Rusty (2016). In 2012, the Governor of Georgia presented him with the Governor's Award In "The Arts and Humanities".
